Survivor Series Part II: The Reflections of a First Responder: from Surviving to Thriving!
July 28, 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
(Registration is required prior to attending this class and seats are limited).
Please join us at the VB Strong Center for an in-person presentation with guest speaker, Steve Gray, Chief Chaplain with the VB Police Department.
This presentation is opened to all current and previous first responders: EMT, 311 and 911, fire, police, hospital staff, paramedics, honor guard liaison, joint information, family reception center, community members, and direct victims of building #2 and their loved ones of the 5/31 shooting tragedy.
Steve Gray will be sharing his reflections of his journey as an emergency response personnel in the aftermath of 5/31 and as part of the Virginia Task Force 2 team in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City Bombing on April 19, 1995. He shares his personal story as a first responder from surviving to thriving. He gets candid on the effects of secondary and vicarious trauma from his 26 years of experience in many different roles, to include nine years as an EMT with the city of Va. Beach.
The presentation will include time for group discussion. Masks are required to be worn per Sentara guidelines.
